John Boulanger was born in 1830 in Germany. His name was changed due to a clerical error during his service in the American Civil War. After the war he married Barbara Schindler nee Trabert who was the widow of Conrad Schindler who was killed in the war. She had 4 children from her first marriage and together she and John had at least two more. The one we know of is my husbands grandfather Peter. He married Theresa Schwab and they had 9 children.
