My husband's great-grandfather was Frederick Bougher/Buffer who was born 15-Sep-1844 at Hardinville, Crawford co., Ill. to Daniel Bougher and Elizabeth Hauser. Frederick moved to Phelps co., Mo. with his mother, sisters Lucinda, and Mary Jane; and brother, John after the death of his father. He m 24-Sep-1871 in Phelps co., Margery Ellen Karnes; he died 15-Apr-1913 and is buried in the Anutt cemetery in Dent co. Mo. His father Daniel was b.in Harrison co., Ind. to David Bougher and Mary Ann Sappenfield. David was born in Pa. in 1794, moved to Harrison co., Ind., and then served three terms in the Indiana Militia in the War of 1812. On 20-Jul-1816 he m. Mary Ann Sappenfield the dg. of Michael Sappenfield, who was a Rev. War veteran from Rowan co., N.C., and Sarah 'Sally' Myers. David and Mary had children, Jacob, Daniel, Frankey J. (female), Michael, John and Elizabeth.
