Realizing this is a LONG shot, I can remember my father telling the story of a relative of his who (I believe) lived in the southern half of Indiana. During the Civil War he was told to sign up and he refused - "they" (I don't know who they were) called him out onto his porch and shot him dead.
I am hoping someone out there has heard the same story and that we can find some common ancestry.
Just sign me up as "One who wished she'd listened .... and now it's too late"
