Hi Lee,

The questions you raise are completely valid ones, and the points you make are equally worthy of note. And I agree, sometimes, the experts can miss some valuable clues found by amateur researchers like ourselves.

This isn't a question but a continuation of your observation... that the Louisiana records make mention of BOTH Boston and Halifax is a good question to pose. It is my own understanding that the exiles in Massachusetts and the exiles imprisoned in Halifax were two different groups. Those who found themselves in Massachusetts were the ones exiled there in 1755 from Acadia, while those detained at Halifax were originally captured in the Fort Beauséjour area in the 1760s by the British, and exiled to an island in Halifax harbor, for extradition later, after their confinement in that prison. To my knowledge, I am not aware of any relation between these two groups or that people from Boston had been sent to Halifax for later exile elsewhere.

Perhaps it would be good to get a list of the Halifax detainees and reexamine that listing against what you found in Massachusetts. As for the identity of Jean Boudrot and his relation to the Belliveaus, I will have to look at that once again, as my grandmother was a Beliveau descendant of those exiled to Massachusetts, who later wound up in Québec, so there is probably some connection to my own lineage way back. For the present, I do not know exactly who this Jean was or why he was listed with that family, if he was listed with them at all, or just the "next name on the list". Since I have not seen the original listing myself, I don't know if it is at all separated into groups or just sequential as an enumeration of people, but I'll take another look at my sources and get back to you on this.

For the record, I am glad to see that people such as yourself are always questioning and that is a good sign for researchers, since no one has ALL the answers on everyone. Each of us have bit and pieces to either support or refute the findings of others. Keeping the lines of communication open by discussion is the clearest means ofsolving many of the family "mysteries", so thanks for sharing your insights. I personally find these of great value. Will be in touch again soon, Sincerely, Dennis
