By the way, I meant to mention that when the Acadians were exiled from Acadia, the Boudreau (then Boudrot) family was pretty much split down the middle, with about half of them going to Louisiana, while the other half stayed in Canada. But for the grace of God, many of us Northern descendants would be living in Katrina's path, had our ancestors gone south.

Other major variations of the Boudrot surname were: Boudreau, Boudreault and Boudreaux, not to forget the other hundreds of spellings Don Boudreaux from Louisiana has gathered from his research. There is also a Beaudreau family from Quebec, many of which go by the Boudreau surname but they are not of Acadian origin, rather Quebecois. Equally, there are many Boudrias and Bourdeau families which have been swept up as Boudreaus particularly in the Midwest US, and today go by the latter surname, but they are not related to the vast descendance of Michel Boudrot of Port-Royal, Acadia.
