Katie, Thanks to info from Stephen White and Jeanne Belford, I think I can help on your question: The death record for the Polycarpe Boudrot you found (aged 3 months) in July 1839 was indeed the son of Simon Boudrot and Euphrosine Samson, born the previous 14 Mar 1839 in Arichat. From the online Arichat records, seemingly the next son born to them was Simon in Aug 1841, who died in Dec of that year, aged 4 months. What these records do not tell us is that there was another child born to Simon and Euphrosine in 1840, that is between these two children who died young, also named Polycarpe, and who married in 1866 at West Arichat, NS to Henriette called "Annie" Thériault, and who died in 1902. This family can be found in the 1891 census of West Arichat as follows: #90 BOUDROT Paul (male) 50y. married head of household Anny (female) 43y. married wife Simon (male) 15y. son Janty (male) 14y. son Alaxcy (male) 12y. son Mary (female) 10y. daughter Pollie (female)8y. daughter Thomas (male) 6y. son Fred (male) 4y. son We know that this is your family, as Polycarpe's brother Placide (m to Victoire Girroir) follows this record. Here are some corrections to this census record, however. Polycarpe Boudrot is called "Paul" for short, and was born according to his age in this document in 1840. The census was probably taken just before his next birthday making him 51 years old. Several other children of him and Henriette called "Annie" were already married or died and do not show up in this entry, they being: Martha, Anne, Johanna, and Paul (dec). Simon heads the list, followed by John (the Janty of this record, who could have been baptized as "Gentil" [pronounced "Jean-Ty" in French] but went as John or Johnny... he is your great grandfather married to Alexina Marchand); Alaxcy is really Alexis; Mary is really Minnie; Pollie is really another male named Paul who married an Ida Girroir; Thomas and Wilfred form the last two entries in this census record. Another son Joseph was born after the census and died a year later. All this info thanks to Stephen White of Moncton, NB. To finish your line back to the beginning, your Joseph, husband of Marguerite Dugas, was the son of François and Marie-Madeleine Belliveau; François was the last child and youngest son of our Boudrot ancestors, Michel & Michelle (Aucoin) of Port-Royal, Acadia. The rest of your line is correct. So you were on the right track after all. You may want to continue your search of records for your family in the Provincial Archives of Nova Scotia, Halifax, for the West Arichat region, as their parish records were unfortunately burned, I believe. This family was reconstructed from what records do exist, and this is all the information that I can give you from my sources. Wishing you the best of luck in your research and knowing this will help, Dennis Boudreau Notify Administrator about this message?
