Barbara,

I know what you're saying. The family originally started as "BOUDROT"; after the Acadian exile, the ones in Canada went by "BOUDROT, BOUDREAULT or BOUDREAU" depending on the region and usage in that region, or if the family adopted one form of spelling over another, i.e. my grandfather carried the (-LT) in Canada, but dropped it when he came to New England because it made the name too long, and it was a silent "lt", anyway. Most of those who ended up in Louisana went by "BOUDREAUX", though I imagine some may have gone simply by "Boudreau". These would probably be transplants to Louisiana from northern regions however. Most of the family down there carry the (-x). Dennis
