I'm searching for any information regarding the immediate ancestors, siblings, or other relations of Adelard Joseph Bouchard, b. c 1890 in Quebec, who married Mary Louise ( Louisa?) Baril of Central Falls, RI, sometime in the early 1900's. Adelard Bouchard left his mother, father, and siblings behind in Quebec, and travelled first to Providence, RI, where he was known to have numerous Bouchard cousins. In the early 1900's, he used to attend Bouchard family reunions in Rhode Island. Does anybody know anything about these reunions in Rhode Island, or what branch of the Bouchard family it was that convened them? This might help me find my missing link to the past. Adelard Bouchard and his wife settled in the small town of Norton, MA, and raised a family of eight children. My Grandma, Fabiola, is the youngest female child of Adelard Bouchard. Unfortunately, my grandma is ailing, and that window to the past that I enjoyed peering through as a young child, is now closed. I'd love to tell my grandma a little something about her Bouchard ancestors, but the search has been slow and difficult. I remember some faint clues that might ring a bell with someone out there. Adelard's brother, who lived in Montreal? Quebec, was a catholic priest. He had another brother who was a concert pianist. I believe he also had a sister or an aunt named Fabiola, who became a nun ( Fabiola Dupre' ? ) My grandma used to tell me about St. Anne De Beaupre church...I don't think she ever went there, but her mother or father told her about it. She told me stories of healings that had taken place there. When Grandma pronounced the French-Canadian version that she learned of the name Jesus, it sounded like "Shu shu". Perhaps this is a colloquial or regional pronunciation of the name "Jesu". What seems difficult is, I know we must have numerous Bouchard cousins around, especially in the Rhode Island area, that we can't link up to, because of these information deficits. According to the family, Adelard Bouchard left Quebec and came to the US when he was quite young, possibly even younger than 16 years old. The rest of his immediate family stayed behind in Quebec. He died fairly young, many years ago, and no one in the family seems to remember any information that will link us up to his forbears, or the Bouchard family at large. The family knew he had numerous Bouchard cousins at these Providence, Rhode Island reunions, but...who were the Bouchards who held these reunions? I've put this query in a year ago, and have regularly checked the message board looking for familiar names/dates/clues...and still I've gotten no further than what you see here. And...I don't think Adelard Joseph Bouchard is mentioned in the Bouchard volumes in the Connecticut Library ( someone did a lookup ). If anyone can help, please feel free to e-mail me soon! I look forward to all the help I can get. Thanks in advance. Judith McGovern Costa Mesa, California
