Thanks to your reply, I now have been able to place your line! I have been researching for more than 30 years, belong to several lineage societies (researched and proven, not inherited lines), and as a result I am a "stickler" about proof, lol! My Bottom line begins with Mary Bottom born ca 1710-1720, daughter of Thomas Bottom and wife (name unproven)who married George Steagall ca 1730. Your line is through the brother of Mary, Thomas who was married to Lyddia. 1. Thomas, the father, was the witness to a deed in 1712 indicating that he was probably born ca 1691 or before. 2. His will was written May 1765 and proved Oct 1765, obviously he died by Oct 1765. 3. A wife is not named in his will, assume she has died by May 1765. 4. The will of John Bottom 1711 names a son Thomas. This seems to be the same Thomas. 5. A deed in 1714 mentions land that was given to Thomas Bottom by John Clarke which seems to indicate a relationship between John Clarke and Thomas Bottom. I have thought perhaps Thomas's wife was a daughter of John Clarke, BUT no proof. 6. Does it not seem strange to you that this family had only 3 children - Thomas, Mary, and Jane?
