Rev War Vet--a MYSTERY
Posted by: David R. Berry Date: April 13, 1999 at 18:43:49

Greetings to the Bottoms Family! Some associates and I are trying to find the identity of a Rev War veteran who was bos'n on the Rev War Gunboat PHILADELPHIA (the oldest extant American warship---on display in the Smithsonian) It was sunk at the Battle of Valcour Island (Lake Champlain) 11 Oct 76. The crew payroll was found in 1947--it too is in the Smithsoinian--Fourth name on list is the bos'n and is written as
EZEKIAH BUDDTHOMAS---
My opinion is that his name is highly mangled and is actually Hezekia Bottoms.
Anyone care to do a little looking?
Please email me directly-----
Dave Berry--cousin to the bos'ns mate!(the fifth name on the payroll)
