The only Barnes-Bottoms connection that I am showing is a Caswell Hines Barnes marrying Nancy L. Bottoms on May 16, 1842 in Nash County. The Nash/Edgecombe/Wilson County Bottoms are related to the Northampton County family. Now the appearance of John in Northampton is very interesting as William appears to be the progenitor of today's Northampton Bottoms' family. The Bottoms family descend from William Longbottom of Surry County, Virginia. One of his sons, Jones, along with William's widow who had remarried to Francis Hutchins moved to Northampton County circa early 1750s. John and William are most likely the descendants of Jones.
