I don't know if this will be of any help, but I noticed in your message that you mentioned Van Zandt, TX. My GG-Grandfather was Zacharah Bottoms from Van Zandt, Tx. He was married to Elizabeth Taylor. (of course not the Elizabeth) I have more, but do you think there might be a link here? Let me know and we could compare notes.
