Hi Mike,
You have been so helpful to many researchers and I just wish that I could return the favor.Alas! But I did want to note you of some issues that you might find of interest.
1. Mary Polly Bottom b c 1784 m George Gardenshire. One of their children was WILBURN Gardenshire. My hunch is that the given name Wilburn comes of the Bottom family and not the Gardenshire line. (Fletchers, Benhams and Wilburns were allied families c 1800 Ky, if not sooner.)
2. At least one Wilburn family in CARTER KY was related to the family of THOMAS TERRY and his family. (1850 census of Carter KY)...Miles Wilburn and his family also lived in
Carter KY...(not the Miles Wilburn b c 1762) but a much younger Miles Terry, who I suspect is a descendant.)
3. Wilburns in Carter KY c 1850 and also in Pike and Floyd Do KY, same time frame, were related to the FRIEND family.I suspect that FRIEND TERRY was was related to the FRIEND family, vs having a Quaker given name.
4. Lewis Wilburn b 1802 in Wilkes Co TN and lived in Claiborne Co TN m Elizabeth Rowe.Their nearest neighbor was Thomas Terry and his family.
5. I find Wilburns and Terrys as nearest neighbors in 3 other counties of KY in 1850.
Now I do have a few questions.
1. Are the TERRY families in KY descendants of Immigrant John Tierry b in 1649?Some. All of none?
2. Is Stephen Terry b c 1700, and father of James and Rowland TERRY both b c 1730, a descendant of John Tierry immigrant?
Thanks heaps for your time and knowledge.I very much appreciate your help.
Warmest regards,
