My point on the last discussion is there are several William Thomas Bottom(s) - yours being from Jasper County would indicate another line of the Bottoms family.
The William Thomas Bottoms of my family has the following lineage back to Burrell and Sarah Bottoms(Bladen Co NC and Camden, SC)
William Thomas Bottoms b. 1877 so James Madison Bottoms(Jr)(1851-1915) and Laura Ann Collins (1848-1920,
James Madison Bottoms so James Madison Bottoms(Sr.) (1798-1866) and Eliza McElroy Hartsfield (1821-1891). I was mistaken when I mentioned Elizabeth Lockhart (James Madison Bottoms' 1st wife.
James Madison Bottoms (Sr) so Burrell Bottoms (abt 1765-1800).
It would be great to get some Bottoms DNA on your lineage to check the DNA matches with several other Bottoms'. BUT for the Y-DNA match - you must be a direct line as a Bottom(s) Male (ie your last name would need to be Bottom(s)).
There are other DNA operations that would give you additional information relating to the Bottoms family - those could be evaluated by the Family Tree DNA project.
Either way - let's keep the conversation going and see where it takes us.
