Frankly, I'm very confused about the Bottom family, and I don't have great sources. Let me see if I can give you some rationale.

1. Patricia Stricklin, who has made posts on this forum, sent me an email in which she said, "The Thomas Bottom(s) who married Lydia was married to Lydia Bott. She (Lydia) was mentioned in his LWT (Last Will and Testament). I am a descendant of them."

2. In a earlier post on this string, you discussed Thomas Bottom's will. You did not mention Lydia, but then, you did not quote the entire will, and since I have not been able to see it, I guess I assumed it was the same will Patricia was referring to. Probably a bad assumption.

3. Jerry Bottoms, who has also made posts to this forum, and who has an extensive genealogy db of Bottoms families, and I have exchanged GEDCOM files. He did not provide me with his source data, but I can see in his genealogy that he shows Thomas Bottoms (the one we are discussing, who died 24 Oct 1765) married to Lydia. Jerry and I have recently exchanged data about some of the Bottoms folks, and I know he would be interested in learning any more he could about the family.

4. Barbara Bottoms-Lowrance, who has also posted to this forum, wrote that Lydia is the daughter-in-law of Thomas, i.e., the wife of Thomas' son, Thomas. I have written to her seeking source info, but she has not replied.

Can you see why I'm confused? I would greatly love to be able to work with some set of Bottom related folks who would be willing to share all their data, and who would also be willing to not declare anything true without a mutually agreed to set of source documents to validate it. Unfortunately, I have yet to be able to find such a group. Do you know of one? Would you like to form one. I don't have a great deal to offer, but my time, and the fact that I travel now and again, and I'm very willing to make my travels go where some revelant data might be located and to search for it.

Let me know.

Thanks,
Jim
