I too have the same lineage as you back to Thomas and John Bottom. I too, have not been able to make the connection between John and Thomas. Nor have I found any evidence of Thomas (or any other person named Bottom) living in Malmsbury. I have visited there twice and looked at a lot of records, all to no avail.

Would be delighted to make the connection and find when and from where John might have come and what relationship he may have had to Thomas. My SPECULATION is they could have been brothers, but who knows.
