Bottom of Jamestown and Malmsbury, Eng.

From submissions on the Internet, I find a tracing of my earliest Bottom ancestors in this country as follows: John Bottom of Jamestown, Thomas Bottom b. ca 1630, John B. Bottom b. 1662 Varina Parish, Henrico Co., VA, m. 1683 d. 1711

From John B. Bottom on, I find wills and other documents cited proving the lineage. I have seen absolutely no evidence cited for the lineage from John to Thomas to John B. and no evidence to show that John was from Malmsbury, England. The 1622 and 1623 census listings for Jamestown just have John Bottom, Archurs Hoop (Archers Hope, a part of Jamestown colony).

I am a stickler for evidence. Does anyone know where this lineage comes from? What data or documents support it?

Roy Johnson
