Not sure if this will help your or not. Almira Twichell (eldest sister of my GGrandmother LOIS)was sent from her home to a nearby town called Arcade, where there was a better school. She met a fellow and married him. He was Barnabas Botsford.
They had a son, Albert Wallace Botsford.
What drew my attention was your comments about Cattagarus Co,NY. Lois (my GGrandmother) when she was 7 years old (1848)was left for two weeks at the Botsford home while the rest of the family moved to East Otto, Cattagarus Co.,NY In her book, she talks about playing with Albert.
It sounds like I have one of your Botsfords in my family.
Albert, was last known, for a fact, to be in Genesis, Tennessie with 3 sons. Lois wrote to him around 1878 and made contact.
He had little information on his mothers relatives and was glad to hear from Lois. They exchanged letters for a while. After a long time, no more letters came. Lois contacted the Postmaster but no forwarding address was on file. Elmira was born in Concord, Erie Co.,NY. I think they were married about 1843 or 1844.
