I am not related to these people, so I do not have an opinion on this information.
From the book "Monocacy and Catoctin" by Calvin E. Schildknecht is the following:
"Willaim L. Boetler (1859-1934) and wife Lilly S. (Seward) (1864-1953) are buried at Mt. Olivet (In the city of Frederick, MD).His parents Benjamin A. (1825-1906) and Ellen (Thomas (1823-1903) are buried at Urbana Methodist Church.Probably great grandparents of William L. were Henry Boteler (1766-1943 must be 1843) and wife Mary (1776-1858) who are buried at Jefferson Union Cemetery.Boteler families of Western Maryland are discussed by Williams (1906) (This is one of the histories of Frederick County)."
"An ancestor of Boteler and Butler families was claimed to be Simon de Bouteller, a Norman Captain of Cavalry, serving William the Conqueror in 1066.Descendants Henry, Charles and Rupert Boteler early received grants of land near Upper Marlboro in Prince George's County. An Edward Boteler who married Priscilla Lingan was progenitor of Botelers in Frederick County.A Henry Boteler married Ellen Elsby and settled at Browningswille in Washington County."
