Thanks for the swift reply, Jim. Old Bibles can be restored or conserved -- I have the Bible of my great-great grandfather, Jeremiah Gullion, born 1836 and died about 1895 -- I suspect he acquired it when he married his third wife, Amanda Jane George Neill (who was my great-great grandmother in another line!), the first inscriptions are in a very beautiful script and obviously posted at one time, later inscriptions are in ordinary and common and varied handwritings. It too is fragile and falling apart; I inquired of two or three conservators about prices to restore or conserve a Bible and prices ran around $800. I intend to do this to preserve the Bible for future generations. To me it is priceless!!!! I am also going to see if the Lib of VA will scan it for their records so that other researchers of Gullion/Neill lines may have access to the original source information.
I am excited at the prospect of a Ransom Boswell, Sr., Y-DNA participant!! Thanks for checking this out!
regards,
Linda
