Thanks much, Howard, for the follow-up. However, John, Jr. is indeed mentioned as one of four sons, twice in his father John Boswell's will. He also appears as a grantor in two Spotsylvania County deeds on April 1, 1755 (one of them with brother Ransom, mother Ann and stepfather William Gatewood).
Reuben Gatewood was born 14 years after John Boswell, Sr. died, and I can't account for other Boswells in Spotsylvania who could be his father, except John and Ann's sons.
Wish I could get more conviction that the James Boswell of Caswell/Person County could only be the son of John and Ann.
