I am researching the family of Arthur BOSWELL (Warehouse Man) born c. 1845 in Liverpool, Lancashire, England. He had the following known children:
Arthur John BOSWELL b. c1874 in Manchester, Lancashire, England. (He was a "Railway Servant - R. Port" on the 1891 Census).
James Alfred BOSWELL b. c1879 Manchester, Lancs.
Sarah A. BOSWELL b. c1882 Manchester, Lancs.
Their mother was Elizabeth BOSWELL, b. between 1840-1843 in Liverpool, Lancs, England. It is possible that her previous "Married Surname" was HEENAN / HENON ?? and that her "Maiden Surname" was OWENS ??
In 1881 the family were residing at 4 Austin St, Manchester
In 1891 the family were residing at 9 Appleton St, Manchester. (Only Elizabeth Boswell and her children were listed on this Census ... Arthur Boswell was not listed and I couldn't find him on this Census ... possible he died?)Found a Death Registration listed for Prestwich, Lancashire, England in 1883 for an Arthur BOSWELL, age 37 years (dob c1846).
In 1901 can find no record of either Elizabeth Boswell or Arthur BOSWELL.
However, on the 1901 Census, I did find son Arthur John BOSWELL, (25) "Railway Porter" living at 28 Artisens Buildings, Collier St, Salford, Manchester, Lancashire, England with his wife Mary Jane BOSWELL (nee WILDE) (25) b. Salford, Manchester, Lancs., England; and son Arthur BOSWELL (3) b. Salford, Manchester, Lancs, England; and daughter Frances Elizabeth BOSWELL (11 months) b. Salford, Manchester, Lancs. England.
On the 1901 Census James Alfred BOSWELL (age 22) b. Manchester, Lancs, England, was a Private, Soldier, listed at St. John, St. Margaret and Westminster, Christchurch, London, England (Registration District = St. George Hanover Square).
Would like to hear from anyone else with a genealogical research interest in the BOSWELL families of Lancashire, England.
