Hello again Bob, Your ancestral kinsman,Daniel A. Boswell, was parent to Peyton Boswell who married Bessie -?-; had a son Peyton, Jr. They lived for a period in Chicago, Ilinois; but eventually settled into Mercer County, New Jersey by 1930, where Peyton, Sr. was an editor of a magazine there. His son, was assistant editor. The younger Peyton Boswell became a well-known and respected art historian who published several volumes on comtemporary artists of the 20th Century. I am interested in this family as I am also a Boswell descendant of Edward Boswell who lived in the later part of the 1700's in Prince William County, VA and settled into Caswell County, NC, where he died in 1830. Edward served as a prover to the will of Henry Peyton in Prince William County ca 1781, along with a Valentine Peyton. This meant that Edward had personal contact and knowledge of the man and his family. The Peyton family had a proclivity, along with the Boswell family, of using the given name of Craven for many generations. Being a distinctive name, this provides a second connection the families shared. Quite a few of Edward's sons settled into Tennessee, as also did the sons of Edward's brother, Hezekiah, who also shared the Craven given name usage. I am interested in the earlier history of your Boswell family, as there very well may be a connection. At least yours is one family who has used the Peyton name which makes it clear that somewhere in the historic annals, was a Peyton and Boswell marriage. Best regards, John Fox Winston-Salem, NC Notify Administrator about this message?
