I am searching for marriage information or the 1860 census information for Bailey Peyton Boswell and Martha C. Huffine. I have been unable to locate them in the 1860 census. I know only that Bailey Peyton Boswell mustered into the Civil War in 1862 at Bainbridge, IL, 128th IL INF Co. G per his military headstone in Skinner Cemetery in Williamson Co, IL, he died 11-13-1862. His widow, Martha C. Huffine Boswell (marriage date and location unknown, but suspect is IL, TN or KY between 1850-1855) applied for widow's pension in 1863. (Their youngest son John Bailey Peyton Boswell was born in Feb 1863 in Jackson County, IL.) Their other children are Elisah Filbert born cir 1855 and Daniel A. cir 1856 both in TN, and Henry M b. cir 1860 in IL. I suspect also that in 1860 this family would include William A. Huffine, a step-son to Bailey Peyton. The widow Martha C. Boswell then married John Skinner in 1869 and together they had Cordelia Skinner who married William Jessie Rushing in 1887.
I am seeking any information on Bailey Peyton Boswell and his parents and hoping someone researching Boswells has seen this family. Also seeking Martha C. Huffine Boswell Skinner's background (born cir 1830 in TN) and attempting to find the link that William A. is her son, and if so, his Huffine father and Martha's marriage information. William A. Huffine (Boswell is what he listed for the 1900 Williamson County, IL census) was born in KY about 1849. He married Mary A. Wagoner in 1866 in IL and up to 1900 they are found under Huffine. Curious is that 2 of William A. Huffine/Boswell's sons, Ezra Pierce and Roy, remained Boswell and their descendants are Boswells. However, one son listed, Herman, went by Huffine and his decendants are Huffine. Ezra Pierce and Roy both listed Huffine on their marriage licenses (1902&1905) but always went by Boswell. Ezra, Roy and Herman had 2 sisters: Victoria Huffine Jones and Lora Boswell/Huffine(?) Bean. If this rings a bell to anyone please reply. Greatly appreciated!
