J. J. Boswell published a book in Leeds, Eng., 1906, The History of the Boswells. It's invaluable if you're studying the earliest Boswells. The LDS have a copy on m'film at Salt Lake City, which you can borrow at your local family history center. I urge anybody studying this family to read the book. A later book, published in Edinburgh, 1928 was written about the "Bosvilles" by Lady Macdonald of the Isles, titled: The Fortunes of a Family (Bosville of New Hall, Gunthwaite and Thorpe) Through Nine Centuries. Lady Macdonald was the Boswell heiress. I believe this book is at the National Archives, and a microfiche copy will be loaned to your library. This book covers a lot of the same ground as J. J. Boswell's book, although she never refers to him, and J. J. goes back further.
