Hello John,
I too was keen to trace this John further back, and also have a copy of his marriage certificate. My copy does not mention his mother Elizabeth, just the witness Eliza Morris, but I agree the puzzling -- Eckley as his father. I can only assume another illeg birth to a Bostock mother, but we really have no clue as to who she is.
On his death I agree about 1891. In fact he must be John Bostock age 75 died in Kington in March quarter 1891. You may also have noticed that neither he nor Jane could count their age. I have him down as 36 in in 1861, 53 in 1871, 72 in 1881, and now 75 in 1891. Jane was not any better.
