First of all, I would like to say thank you for all that information. I hit a brick wall and stopped searching because of that frustration. Let me ask you a question regarding what you posted if you don't mind.

Since I do not live in the area, (I am in Florida) as far as obtaining any of the information you outlined, how would I obtain a copy of the application for Social Security. Is that something that a volunteer would be able to assist me with as well? When speaking to someone at the library--what exactly do I tell the librarian? Do I tell them I am researching my family tree and was wondering if she could put me into contact with any volunteers who might be able to assist me? I do apologize for the questions, but this is the first time I have ever done this. Any information you can give me is appreciated. Thank you!
