Hi Sherry,

Xmas is a good time to do genealogy. Just thought I would check out the Forum as I do from time to time. I trace the whole Bostock clan, and am particularly interested to catch up with the Bostocks who emigrated to the USA, where records are far harder for me to track. I'm from London, UK.

So, you are Sherry L. (Clatworthy), married to Manuel Ray II on 3rd Feb 1983 in Potter Co, Tex. I trust Manual Ray owned up for his first two marriages. My info is actually very scattered, and I hope you will fill me out with the Bostock family as you know it. (I know we have Manual Ray III as well).

But, more to the point, let me help get you back towards your husband's roots in the UK.

Manuel Ray was born 27 August 1926 in Oklahoma, and was the son of John W. Bostock and Nellie F. We find this from the 1930 census of Kosoma, Oklahoma.

We also find John W.'s parents from the censuses. He was brought up in Dallas, Tex, and is the son of George N. Bostock and Martha.

From here it gets harder. The 1880 census for Dallas gives George N. aged 33, a farmer, born in Illinois, while his father was born in England, and his mother was born in Illinois.

The 1850 census of Pike Co, Ill gives George aged 1 in a household with John Bostock aged 63, farmer, born in England, and Elizabeth aged 62, born in NY (so I read), whom I would take to be his grandparents.

Now, unfortunately, the US censuses almost always just give the state of birth or the country of birth, and John Bostock born c. 1786 in England is far too general to locate the actual person.

There is a bit more. There is a message board entry dated 16 April 2000 which gives that Elizabeth, daughter of Isaac and Mary Holford, married John Bostock on 11 July 1847 in Pike Co, Ill, and the timing and place of this is just right for this John to be the son of John and Elizabeth, and the father of George N. which is how I take it to be.

I hope we will keep the dialog going. I'd like to know more of the Manuel Ray Bostock dynasty. Where did such names come from ??

Happy New Year,
Roland
