Hi,

I was given your details by Roland Bostock and subsequently found your message on 'genforum'.

I am Anthony James Bostock and I live just outside Northwich, Cheshire. My father is James Cyril Bostock (born Northwich 1920), he was son of father was James Clarence Bostock (born Northwich 1896) and his father was James Cragg Bostock (born Northwich 1860), son of Thomas Bostock (born Northwich 1838). I give Northwich as their place of birth because they appear in the registers of the parish church there and it is the largest town hereabouts, but the family lived in Leftwich, now a suburb of Northwich and which is technically in the neighbouring parish of Davenham. I am aware that James Cragg Bostock had two older children and that they emigrated to California just before the First World War - they were Thomas and Polly. When my grandfather died in 1956 wreaths were sent from 'Polly' and 'Mary' of 'California'.

We know little of what became of Thomas and Polly. Recently Roland mentioned that Thomas is mentioned in the 1920 census for Oakland, California as being aged 38 years, with a wife Mary, son Harold, aged 13, and a daughter Gladys aged 7.

James Cragg Bostock's wife was Annie Whittaker who died in 1950 aged 89; in her will she mentions a daughter named Polly. James Cragg died in 1921.

If these details fit the bill I can provide you with much more information on the family history. I have spent some 30 years researching the family which stretches back into medieval times.
Cheers
Tony B.
