Hi Mike, Some coincidence your being able to make another Roper/Bostock connection. I am inclined to accept that Bawstock is a variation of Bostock (from the sound of it anyway). And your desire to look for wills is appropriate for the John Bawstock, but not for John father of William. Anyway there was indeed an admon for John Bostock, of Elston, Newark in 1630. This is archived at the Borthwick Inst, York. I've seen all their Bostock wills, but not the admons. However, he of course can not be the actual John who was father of William, born later. There are various other Bostock wills from 1550 - 1650 held at Nottingham and York, most of them for my ancestors from Chilwell, Notts, but there are no John's among them except one more admon for a John of Chilwell, 1616.
