Continuing on from where I fell asleep last night, I would like to add a bit about Augustus Bostock. In the light of the fact that some indigenous people were named after Europeans, I have seen this happen more than once. HOWEVER The Augustus bostock linked to our family has no links at all to the Augustus you speak about. I would also like to say that there were no Scottish links to Augustus Bostock in that family. The family were 'quite' English from Chester and Liverpool and obviously Anglican and seemed to remain that way through the years. The Augustus Bostock b.1833 had a son John Augustus and I have a long history about his life in the Mansfield district of Victoria. There were others later in that line who were Augustus, but none follow this line of previous posting. This Augustus could have come by the naming of an aboriginal worker by one of the many pastoralists who were great friends of the indigenous people and Augustus. Many of the family and those families they married into, had kind and friendly links over many years. There were a number of Robert and James Bostock's who came into Tasmania about the same time as our Robert, which I thought was unusual too. Sorry I cannot help in this instance re Augustus.
