There were actually by the name. There was one in the area when William the Conqueror reached him about 1070.

The second OSMER is also called Oliver in some discussions. At this time the Angles and the Saxons were loosing control of the area i which they held power.

The first OSMER was in the service of Edmond IRONSIDE against Canute the DANE. This OSMER resembled Edmond so that the DANES trapped him on the battlefield and cut off his head in hopes to show Edmond`s forces that he was dead.

There has been some discussion that both the OSMER`s were of the line of OSMOD but no proof has come forward.

You have to remember that the Saxons at the
height of their power had seven kingdoms according to the scholars.

With the Jutes, Angles, and Saxons pushing and shoving for advantage the Saxons proved the strongest....yet the Angles are noted for the name ENGLAND.
