Tania, I rather skipped out of reading the Forum recently, and should have been responding to you much earlier. I note that Thelma Birrell has made a reply, and I will suggest to you that her Augustus Bostocks are the most likely choice for you. We didn't have that many Bostock families in Australia at the time you are referring to, and I assume someone is making the Scottish association purely by the name Augustus, which may sound Scottish (and may well be a Scottish name).
To clarify on the dates: In Thelma's family there are two Augustus Bostock's, but it is the first you must be referring to.
The tree starts with a Robert Bostock, born 1784 in Liverpool, and he established himself at Vancluse, Tasmania, where the first Augustus was born in 1833. Augustus lived at Warrnambool, and died in 1920.
One of his sons was James, and one of james sons was Augustus, who was born in 1901 at Warrnambool, and he died in 1952 at Portland.
Can you relate to this Augustus?
Now I have picked up further information from the NSW Births indexes. I have found your grandmother Edith I. married to Norman A. Bostock, who was born in 1908 at Murwillumbah, NSW. And I also have his brother Harold J. born in 1908 in Murwillumbah, and their parents as Augustus and Lena. This actually suggests that this Augustus should be born cc 1880, which is rather off the 1833 date, and the 1901 date, so perhaps the connection is difficult to make after all.
I'd be very interested to collect more of your family tree back to Augustus if you will share it with me.
Finally on Lester. Does he fit to the same family. I have seen his picture when he was 66 last year, and was awarded the Premier Achievement Award for 30 year contributions to the community, esp for teaching indiginous youths how to make films, and for helping the disabled.
I know he is eldest of 5 children, left school at 13, and lost his leg soon after, but you will hae to tell me the rest.
