Dear John:
Have you run across a Lydia Cooper, age of 72 years, born in Savannah, GA circa 1788, and living in the household of a William Remshart? This information comes from Page 314 of "The 1860 Census of Chatham County, Georgia" Compiled by the Genealogical Committee of The Georgia Historical Society, 1979 and Copyright 1980. On Pages 281 and 282 of "Laurel Grove Cemetery, Savannah, Georgia, Volume I, 12 October 1852 - 30 Nov 1861" Compiled by the Genealogical Committee of Georgia Historical Society, Savannah, Georgia, Copyright 1993, is information about the removals of members of the Remshart Family from the Colonial Cemetery to the Remshart Crypt, burial Lot #363 at Laurel Grove Cemetery. The owner of Lot #363 is a William Remshart. Page 268 says that the removals from Colonial Cemetery to Laurel Grove Cemetery took place prior to June 1853 when the Colonial Cemetery was closed to new burials. I wonder which Cooper Family of Savannah, Georgia (or possibly Effingham County, GA)does the above-mentioned Lydia Cooper belong?
Thank you for your information about the Christie and Cooper Families.
Sincerely,
Carole Melson.
