My great grandmother is also a Catherine Bosshammer.
her father is John Bosshammer who was born in Germany abt. 1817.I believe his first spouse name was Mary. It had been though that they had two son's born in Germany Conrad abt about 1839 and John born about 1842,they had another son George Henry born in march 1847Covington Kentucky.
I have felt for years they were connected in some way to your family.
Sometime before 1850, John moved his family to County:Monroe Township,ClermontCounty. Ohio before the 1850 censustaken.
You will fine the name spelledBushhamer, John
Under John’s name you will seehis spouse Mary and there three son’s but not Catherinename listed.
I have never found Catherine listed anywhereas a child of John Bosshammer and Eliza Jane any were. However I did fine Catherine with her spouse William H. Reynolds, living two doors down from John andEliza Bosshammer in the 1880 census for Atchison, Atchison County, Kansas.
I am not sure what the true year ofCatherine birth is, but believe it is around 1850. It seem to very from census to census. The first census I fine here is in the 1880 census, under the Reynolds surname.
I have E-mail Claudia Bosshammer she is also a great- greatgrand daughter of John and MaryBosshammer through their son George Henry.
Claudia has assure me that Catherine was a daughter of John’s and sister to her George Henry, herGreat-great grandfather.
Her parent had been to California many times to see Ellsworth Reynolds, how isa son of Catherine Bosshammer Reynolds. Ellsworth ismy Great Uncle. Claudia, told me things only a family member would know. That is why I believe her and trust her information. Also found newspaper clipping statingVacationfor her grandfather trip to Southern California to visit family there.
I under stand just what you are going through looking for information on the Bosshammer it has been very confused and frustrating for my family as well.I do think that there most be some kind of connection, where it lies I have no idea.
