I am just trying/learning to discover my ancestry, I found that your relatives and locations from scraps my mother had from a trip she took to Croatia in 1987. Any leads are appreciated. My grandparents were Mathew Koslovich or Matej Koslovic and Mildred or Milka Polich or Polic.
I found an Uncle Stevo Koslovic that came from Austria on the California in June of 1913. Same manifest shows a Tomo Koslovic. The manifest shows both from Kusonja, Croatia. Also showing Stevo's married to a Dragruic and Tomo married to a Pela.
My mother had said her father Mathew Koslovich had two brothers, John and Steve and two sisters, Barbara and Mary.
His parents were Mathew Koslovich and Rose Cisculich.
Grandmother was Mildred Polich and she had two brothers, Frank, Jr. and Leo. Her parents were Frank Polich and Julia Mivelich. Grandparents were married in Croatia and had one son, Marion. Grand father settled in Michigan and grandmother and Uncle Marion joined them about 10 years later which would have been 1920 or 1921.
Of course these are all the American names and spellings, which makes things really confusing.
I did a search of the village of Kusonja in Croatia and could not get it on a map.
The maps seem to get close to the general area that I have addresses from when my Mom and Aunt Julias visit. That would be Gorski Kotar, Mrkopalj and Fuzine.
The names of relatives/acquaintences /addresses/Mom had in her posession from her trip in 1987 are:
Josip Crvic, brother of Victor Crnic of Mrkopalj or Fuzine.
Josip Sepic from Fuzine that may be a priest. Dragisa Sepic, of Mrkopalj was his mother. These were my mothers cousins.
Anka Vlahovic of Novi Varas, Mrkopalj. Also Katharina & Josip Trbovic and Antona Gosprac.
She also had the names of Max, Cazmier & Ivon Stimac, who would be distant relatives. Any leads you can share?
