I would love to help by doing research at the archives but we have time constraints.

Your best bet for research in Croatia is to contact Zeljko (Fritz) and Sanja Frigan, he lives in the US and she in Zagreb. They are reputable and well known and well liked by people who have used their services. Here is their contact info, please let them know that I recomended them.
