Hello Lynn, This is the second obituary of Charley Ball. FAMILY OF EIGHT ARE STRICKEN WITH FLU, FATHER PASSES AWAY Death of Charley Ball Saddest Incident in Flu Epidemic His efforts to aid his wife and six children, who were stricken with the "flu" while he himself was ill, proved fatal to Charley Ball, aged 40, well-known farmer living at Lake Pleasant. His death marked the end of one of the saddest episodes in the wake of the disastrous epidemic which passed through this section, for Mr. Ball, his wife and six children, were all stricken at one time. Unable to secure a nurse, and himself sorely ill, he took it upon his own shoulders to minister aid to the suffering family. Mr. Ball developed pneumonia, and Wednesday passed away. His family are reported to be gaining. Charley, as he was always known, was a general favorite around the Lake Pleasant community. His cherry (spelling) face was always on hand whenever anything was going at the Lake, and on dance nights played the piccolo in the orchestra. Funeral services were held Saturday and the remains laid at rest in the family lot at Attica. Besides this article, I have the obit of Uncle Daniel West whose second wife was Mrs. Margaret Ball. There is also a poem written by A.M.McHenry in memory of Little Blanche Ball and an article about her death. There are several articles with Lansing surnames. Let me know what you are interested in, if any others, and I will check for you. Also, if you would like copies of the two Ball articles, I would be happy to copy and send. You can email me privately if you want. Hope this is helpful. Kathy Notify Administrator about this message?
