Hi...I am a great-grandson of John Douglas Borthwick (1832-1912). My grandfather was Douglas Henry Timson Borthwick, the only son of John Douglas Borthwick. My mother is the sole surviving child of Douglas Henry Borthwick. Her name is Ada. She had three sisters, Charlotte, Grace, and Rita.
I have a copy of the book you referred to : History of the Montreal Prison 1784-1886. I also have another book written by Rev. John Douglas Borthwick : Poems and Songs of the African War (1901). Incidentally, he has written other books and articles which can be found on the Library of Congress website. I also have a photograph of Rev. John Douglas Borthwick, showing him in his religious clothing.
I live in Vermont, USA. Where are you located?
