Julie & Jerry,
Have you found any link with your Jurgen Bornholdt of Pottawattamie County, Iowa, and the Henry Hans Bornholdt of Cass County, Iowa, which is the county right east of Pottawattamie. My grandmother once said that she thought the two families were related because someone from Jurgen's family came to their home at Atlantic, Cass Co., IA, and said the families were related.

I believe Henry Hans and Hannah Elizabeth Bornholdt family came to Clinton County, Iowa, from Germany in about 1864. Their children were: John Henry, Mary, Marcus, Clous, George, Lena, and Henry Hans. Henry Hans Jr. was b. in Clinton Co., Iowa, and I believe Lena might have been born on the way from Germany. One of the sons stated that he was from Keil, Germany.
