ROBERT EUGENE BORLAND, born June 22, 1946, died at his home in Katy, Texas on December 22, 2001. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 26, 2001, at 2:00 P.M. at Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church with burial in Memorial Oaks Cemetery. Robert was an active member of the West I-10 Volunteer Fire Department for 19 years. He served Station 3 as a Lieutenant and had been the Department Santa Claus for many years. He was recently elected secretary of the Department. Robert served his church, Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church, as an usher. Robert is survived by his wife, Barbara Borland, son, Robert E. Borland Jr., daughter, Jennifer L. Borland, father, Dale Borland, brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Borland, step son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jason Voight, niece, Kristen Borland, nephew, Ryan Borland and sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Rick Henry. He was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Borland, and by his mother, Mary Louise Doty Borland. Pallbearers are members of the West I-10 Volunteer Fire Department, Station 3: David Crawford, Louis Fabricant, Jordan Blegen, Robert McBride, Josh Whitfield, Jason Jackson, Tommy Westall, and Jim Clark. Honorary Pallbearers are all members of the West I-10 Fire Department. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Robert Borland Memorial Fund, West I-10 Volunteer Department, Box 400, Barker, Texas, 77413. Family visitation will be held following graveside services on Wednesday afternoon. SCHMIDT FUNERAL HOME, 1508 East Avenue, Katy, 281-391-2424.
