I am not trying to be picky but there is a lot of information going which is pure speculation. When that happens many individuals take it to be fact. If we are everr going to track down the correct Genealogy - We need to stop ignoring word of mouth and look for the proof, and there is a lot of misinformation out there which is just that. I've heard much lately on John Boreing who died in Baltimore in Oct 1690 and his marriages, Many claim that he was married twice, 1st to Margaret Sidwell and 2nd to Anne Sawyer and I'd really like to know where this came from John Boreing was married 1st to someone (Unknown) who was the mother of Ann when John came to Maryland in 1670 "Came John Boreing of Baltimore County and proved rights to two hundred and Fifty acres of land for Transporting himself, Ann his daughter, John Liggings, Wm. Long, and Edward Rutlidge into this Province to inhabit." John was married 2nd to Margaret UNKNOWN (Widow of Roger Sidwell) - - "1679 Married the Widow of Roger Sidwell - Inventory and Account Books of Roger Sidwell's Estate in Land Office with date November 1, 1679 of which John Boreing was Administrator Names Roger Sidwell's wife as Margaret. - Also MD. Historical Magazine, Volume 16." John was married 3rd to Anne UNKNOWN per Johns Will "2 May 1690 - 5 Aug 1690, named "now wife" Ann, sons Thomas, James, and John (latter to have freedom at age of 18) to share equally in his land; estate inventory Oct 1690 by Thomas Long and Francis Watkins and valued at 332.11.4 pounds; estate administered 16 May 1704. - - Anne went on to marry John Ferry. There is some speculation that Margaret and Anne "MAY" be the same individual but that is all that it is. I always ask where individuals get Anne Sawyer From. True - There is an Anne Sawyer mentioned in relation to John Bouren. (I forget the exact year and will have to look it up) BUT around 1650 a John Bouren(or variation) arrived in Norfolk and among the individuals in that group was an Anne Sawyer. But this is thought by some to be the John Bouren who died in Norfolk in 1677 and the Father of John Boreing of Baltimore. So, Although Anne Sawyer is a real person, I can find no connection between her and John Boring who died in Oct 1690. Also true are a few Genealogist reports which list this (BUT WITH NO PROOF). It's hard enough tracking individuals back then. The best that we can do is note the facts as they are. We can then use hearsay (ie. Anne Sawyer) but please note it as a working hypothesis of speculation when discussing it with other individuals. See my next note of Reuben Boring and Nancy Ann's Vaughn's children for data that has been going around as fact, but I've absolutely proved some as false.... Notify Administrator about this message?
