Marriage of James Boring & Elizabeth Boring
I have seen a common error in lots of different places about a James Boring, son of Ephraim and Elizabeth (Fitzpatrick) Boring. People usually have him marrying Eliza Jane Boring, daughter of Vachel and Jane (Matheny) Boring. I believe that this is not right. Eliza Jane was born in 1851. I have her marrying twice: 1.) John Hicks, on 18 Oct 1872 in Meigs co., Ohio; and 2.) Moses Hicks, on 23 Nov 1879 in Meigs co., Ohio. Eliza Jane and John Hicks had a daughter, Capitola, who married Franklin Howard Haning.
Vachel and Jane also had a daughter Elizabeth. She was born about 1845 in Ohio, according to census records. I believe she is the one who married James Boring. There is a marriage record in Wood co., West Virginia for James and Elizabeth. They married on 16 Sep 1867. It says that his parents are Ephraim and Elizabeth, that he was 24, and that he was born in Jackson, co., Ohio. Elizabeth's parents are Vachal and Mary Jane, she was 21, and she was born in Meigs co., Ohio. Based on this marriage record she matches up very well will Vachel and Jane's daughter Elizabeth, and not Eliza Jane. This is the first time I have seen Jane listed as Mary Jane. Her maiden name must be Mary Jane Matheny.
You can see this record for yourselves online by going to this web site:

On the 1870 census for the household of Vachel and Jane Boring you will find that Elizabeth is no longer listed but Eliza is.
