I recently participated in Sorenson's free DNA database with some interesting results on my Allman surname. The Sorenson Database is yet to get any contributors with the Boring surname (my mother is a Boring). I am hoping to find some who will participate so we can see how closely related the various Boring lines are. Sorenson will send you a free DNA kit which you return with a copy of your pedigree. You remain anonymous in the database, only your deceased ancestors show on their website. You have to be a male with the Boring/Borin/Boren surname to participate. If you are a female descendant, you will need to ask a brother, uncle, etc. If you are interested, please go to http://www.smgf.org/pages/sorensondatabase.jspx and click on Participation Kit.
To see what is currently in the database, go to http://www.smgf.org/ychromosome/search.jspx and check the Search by Surname box. Then enter a surname in the surname field. After surname, click the box Approximate. Scroll down and click on Search.
