William Champion Borders 1821 GA-186X, s/o John Borders 176X NC-183X & Mary Champion 177X-184X, m 1844 Pike Co GA, Luelza M Driver, b 1824 GA, d TX. Her father may be Giles Driver. This John Borders is probably the one listed in 1820 Jones Co GA and 1830 Pike Co GA. His wife Mary shows across the border in 1840 Chambers Co AL. The origin of John Borders has yet to be determined. At first he seemed to be related to Michael Borders 1751 GER who died in 1807 Jackson Co GA. It also seemed that he could be related to John Bodders/Borders c173X who moved from Bucks Co PA to Rowan Co NC shortly before the Revolutionary War. BUT recent tests of the Y-chromosome of male Borders descendants prove that John Borders 176X NC is not related to either Michael 1751 GER or John 173X. The Borders Y-DNA-12 Test Group is still looking for other male Borders descendants to join in with our search for our origins. Those already found are descendants of Matthias Bader 1707 GER who came to Philadelphia & Lancaster Co PA in 1752.
