I show Joseph Borders marrying Julianna Brown on 9-5-1839. Joseph lived and died on his farm near Borders Chapel. His son Joe H. was a journalist and went of Kansas.

Ok, Charlene....here we go with the info I have. It doesn't look like we are related on this branch (at least not yet). There were 3 sets of Browns living in the area, 1 Paintsville Set (That's you.) 2. Tom's Creek and 3. George's Creek (That's mine.)

Francis Asbury Brown m. to Addie Preston (notice the spelling)

Children: William, Thomas S., Daniel, Wallace W., Nathan, Julia, Jefferson, Edy (?Abie), (? Lawrence)

Thomas C. Brown m. 12-15-1831 to Mary Brown (Notice dates of weddings...maybe Mary was not his first wife. Otherwise, Joseph married Julia very very young!

Children: Sarah Brown - an Auxier
Daniel Brown
Francis Asbury Brown

Thomas C. Brown came from Virginia to Prestonsburg where he remained until his death. Daniel Brown lived in Lawrence County, Kentucky, and Sarah in Fleming County. The name of Thomas C. Brown appears many times inthe county court order books of Floyd County, as he was very active and influential in public affairs, having held a number of county offices. It might be of interest to add that Mr. Brown was allowed to keep a ferry across Big Paint Creek by court order of August 28, 1815.

Thomas had a brother, Nathaniel m - ? with one daughter listed...Sarah Brown m. Samuel Auxier. (Note both brothers supposedly had a daughter named Sarah and both married an Auxier. Strange?)

This family is of English origin. The family came to America before the Revolutionary War and settled on the north branch of the Potomac. The brothers moved to Fleming County about 1789, but soon moved to the Sandy Valley, settling opposite Paint Creek.

All of this comes from an very old book that belonged to my grandmother....the pages are starting to crumble and it's days are numbered. I have be very careful when looking through it. Even the binding is shot and the pages are separated from the spline.

Hope this helps.........your cousin.
