Ok Jerry,

Let's see if I have this straight....Katy is the mother of William. Right? If so the only news I can add is that she was married to John Brown 6-25-1817. They lived near the Johnson-Lawrence County Line. He was a wealthy farmer and a noted old-time hotel keeper on George's Creek. (That's the way the old timers referred to where you lived back in the hills....by the creek you lived on.) They had 7 children. Archibald, Andy, William (who went to Kansas), Elizabeth, Fanny, Julia, and John. Katy or Katie was the daughter of John Borders and Elizabeth Sellards. John was of German descent (Prussian) and came to this country as a soldier in the Revolutionary War. There is debate on which side he ended up on by the end of the war but lucky for us he decided to stay. He settled in Giles County, Virginia and later moved to Eastern Kentucky below the mouth of Tom's Creek. So, I hope I read your message correctly. I trace my lineage to Polly Borders, who was Katie's sister. Let me know how your quest goes especially if you can trace back farther. I know Charlene has been looking into the same branch of this family. Happy Hunting Cousin.
