Hi Cousin Charlene, John Borders was my (4th)Great Grandfather through his son, Rev. John Borders. The only information I have is that he fought in the Revolution as a Hessian soldier, but upon not receiving wages, switched the the American side. Family tradition has it that he had a brother, Michael, who also fought in the Revolution and after the war, went west and was not heard from again. Another tradition has Michael settling in TN and then GA. Also, it is said that John Borders always prayed in German, and when asked about it, said he prayed for the family he left behind. This is open to speculation as to whether he meant he was married in Prussia and left them behind, or was speaking of his parents, brothers and sisters he left behind. Hope this will be of some help. Would love to talk with you further. Sharyl
