Olive Borden - Tragic Silent Film Star
While perusing the reviews of old movies as listed on - www.classicimages.com/reviews/ - I came across the following:The video release of “Fig Leaves” (1926) marks the official silent film debut of Olive Borden into the video market. Olive Borden (1906-1947) started her career in 1925 at age 19 as one of Mack Sennett’s bathing beauties. Soon, she was starring in films directed by John Ford, Allan Dwan, and in “Fig Leaves” which was Howard Hawks’ second major film. When talkies came in, Miss Borden’s career went downhill, and she turned to alcohol. Destitute and broke, she sadly died at age 41 from pneumonia in 1947.
