I always wondered where the Rachael name came from. Now I know it was from a death certificate. Thank you for posting it.
I think it’s safe to say Archibald's mother was a McKemy. The marriage record for Archibald’s parents can be found in Greene County Tennessee. It has Virginia McKemy to John Borden on 7 November 1814.
I’ve found the family in the 1850 and 1860 U.S. Census and she’s listed as Jane. She is also buried in the Prairie Grove Cemetery as Jane Borden. I think Jane is a nickname for Virginia although Jen or Jenny is more common.
Perhaps the informant confused Archibald’s aunt with his mother. In 1860 his uncle also named Archibald and aunt Rachael were living in Prairie Grove.
There is some evidence to support Virginia or Jane McKemy as the daughter of Samuel McKemy of Virginia and later Greene County. I have a land record somewhere where she is named along with Alexander McKemy in some transaction. Alexander was the son of Samuel McKemy. Alexander also married a Borden.
Hope this puts you on the right track
Gary
